The Canadian Curling Association has updated the Rules of Curling for General Play to incorporate rules and/or wording from the World Curling Federation – the changes are summarized here.
Two rules changes to note include:
- The rule for touching a delivered stone has now been clarified. A player may re-touch a delivered stone before it reaches the near hog line without penalty. The rule has also been clarified with respect to a delivered stone touched before it has crossed the far hog line. In such a case there is no option for the play to stand; the touched stone is removed from play and all displaced stationary stones are returned to their original positions.
- A stone which has crossed the end line and then spins back to into play is no longer considered “in play” but instead is now considered out of play and should be removed.
