Elmira rink captures North Halton title

This past Saturday two Elmira Little Rock rinks competed at the annual Little Rock Bonspiel at the North Halton Golf and Country Club in Georgetown. Elmira’s two-rink entry was a result of the cancellation of the Little Rock draw at the Fergus Curling Club bonspiel that was to take place the same day. By chance, the North Halton bonspiel had a last-minute cancellation due to illness and a Friday-afternoon phone call from Alison Goring, former Canadian Women’s champion and currently the curling manager at North Halton, permitted us to enter two teams.

Our two rinks took advantage of that opportunity! Congratulations to the rink of Anika (skip), Kate (third), Natalie (second), and Alex (lead) for taking the championship with back-to-back 11-2 and 9-2 wins against teams from North Halton and Brampton.

Our second rink of Sam, Riley, Tony, and Nathan finished in 5th place, winning their first game in a close battle, but were defeated in their second game from a rink from the Chinguacousy Curling Club in Brampton.

Both teams played very well with very strong performances by Anika, Kate, and Tony. Well done everyone!
