Look for this announcement of Elmira’s Open House dates in your mailbox. Our club’s open house takes place on two consecutive evenings, October 5 and 6. New curlers are invited to tour the club, meet Club President Brian Henry and the Board of Directors, and take advantage of the opportunity to learn the basics of curling from the certified coaches that will be on-hand. Free practice ice time is also available from 9:00 pm onwards.
Regular adult league play gets underway Tuesday, October 11.
New Little Rock, bantam and junior curlers are also invited to come to open house with your parents to have a tour of the club and its facilities, meet the coaching staff, and discuss the junior curling program at Elmira that begins on Sunday, October 16. In addition, you can take advantage of the open house to purchase new equipment (shoes, brooms, stopwatches, etc.) from the club’s pro-shop, which will be open during both evenings.
New curlers interested in trying it out on the ice need to bring (1) a clean pair of comfortable indoor shoes (typically sneakers) or curling shoes; (2) appropriate clothing that permits freedom of movement; and (3) a pair of mitts with “sticky palms” suitable for gripping a curling brush.
Thanks to Pat Johnson, Elmira’s marketing director, for putting this together.
