Entries now accepted for U15 coachable bonspiel and clinic

This year, the annual Elmira Junior Bonspiel will take place on Saturday, October 28, 2017. As we did last year, this will be a coachable U15 bonspiel that will feature a single draw of two games. Between the games, both the players and coaches will be served lunch followed by a 2-hour clinic with certified mentor coaches covering topics such as brushing and setup, and in addition will feature two off-ice sessions on nutrition and mental skills training. Games will be scored using a new U15 development system under review by the Ontario Curling Council, and coaches will be permitted within the arena during games. There will be no prizes at this event.

Additional information and detailed descriptions of the game format will be provided to registered teams once the draw is complete.

Teams must be accompanied by a coach, as the clinic is as much for the coaches as it is for the players. Coaches should come prepared to spend the day in the arena, should be dressed in appropriate curling attire and must be wearing curling shoes. There will be no exceptions to this rule. With their attendance, coaches will earn 2 (two) Professional Development points for use in their NCCP certification. When registering, coaches should supply their NCCP number so their attendance can be verified with the OCC office.

Entry fee for rinks is $160. Rinks must satisfy the OCA rules for U15 eligibility and may consist of any combination of boys and girls. Team registration is online ONLY on the Elmira and District Curling Club website.

Refunds will be offered up to 1 October; teams that withdraw after that date will forfeit their entry fee.
