New brooms, Lite Rocks at Elmira

Thanks to a generous discount by Goldline Curling Supplies in Mississauga, the club has purchased 16 Goldline Fiberlite brooms to augment our existing set of club brooms for Junior curling. These new, lighter brooms feature smaller 1-inch handles to better fit children’s hands and also sport swivel brush heads, just like the brushes the pros use. And… they’re pink.

Lite Rock with Curlex handle from Canada Curling Stone

Our welcome increase in Little Rock enrollment this season has prompted the club’s Board of Directors to approve the purchase of an additional set of 16 Lite Rock stones from Canada Curling Stone in London. We expect to take delivery of these new stones on or before November 7.

To help pay for these new stones, we are offering the privilege of having each stone handle engraved with a name, for a donation of $50. Little Rock parents are offered the first opportunity to have a stone engraved (usually with their child’s name). Fill out this form and drop it off, along with a cheque for $50 made payable to the Elmira and District Curling Club, at the club bar starting Sunday, October 17. The bar is open each evening of league play – every weeknight except Saturdays.

Beginning Friday, October 22 this opportunity will be offered to the club membership at large. We need all 16 names by October 30 to ensure delivery of the stones by November 7.

My thanks to Pat Johnson, the club’s Marketing Director, for organizing the stone engraving.
