WLU Women’s team at Elmira on November 14

During our regular practice times on November 14, junior curlers at Elmira are in for a treat as the Laurier Golden Hawks women’s varsity curling team from Wilfrid Laurier University visit the club and assist us with our practice.

Scheduled to visit the club are Laura Crocker, Sarah Wilkes, Jen Gates, Cheryl Kreviazuk, Pam Feldkamp, and Olivia Biernes, all accomplished champions. Laura Crocker, playing second for Rachel Homan, was a silver medallist at the World Juniors in Flims, Switzerland this past March. Laura and Sarah Wilkes were Canadian National Intercollegiate champions in 2009. As a lead for Danielle Inglis, Pam Feldkamp won the Ontario Provincial Junior title in 2008. Jen Gates has twice been Northern Ontario Junior champion, most recently in 2010, and finished with a bronze medal at the Canadian Junior championships last year.

My thanks to Golden Hawks coach Gary Crossley for helping to organize this special event.

Don’t miss this opportunity to meet some world-class athletes on the ice and gain some insight into what it means to be a champion.
