Our 2015-2016 junior curling season is underway! Our first junior practice was Sunday afternoon and we welcome a significant number of new members to our Little Rock and bantam/junior programs.
This year we will again participate in Bantam Interclub, a loose association of area clubs (Palmerston, Elora, Elmira, Acton, Orangeville, Fergus, Listowel, Guelph) that provide a day of curling for bantam-aged players at our various clubs. There is no cost to playing in Interclub. Teams are categorized into two groups:
- “A” teams, typically somewhat older bantam-aged teams that have some competitive experience. “A” teams play two 8-end games with 2 time-outs each, as in a regular OCA event.
- “B” teams are usually younger, more inexperienced players. “B” teams play two 6-end games with (virtually) unlimited timeouts as a learning experience with their coach.
All teams may be “open” (any mixture of boys and girls).
Our Interclub schedule thus far is as follows:
- Saturday, November 7 in Elmira
- Saturday, December 5 in Orangeville
- Saturday, January 9 in Acton
- Saturday, March 19 in Elora
though we are hoping for at least one more date at some point after the Christmas break.
Youth in the Elmira junior program should contact me (Glenn Paulley) as soon as possible if you are interested in participating in Interclub on November 7.
