On Sunday, January 17 we formally presented Elmira’s inaugural Trillium Camp Scholarships to the two winning entrants. Our two bantam recipients, Alison Poluck and Veronica Bernard, will be attending this summer’s Trillium Curling Camp at Kitchener-Waterloo in August. Applications for the scholarships were adjudicated by Sheila Smith-Jones, Pat Johnson, and Dianne Crossley, all long-time members of Elmira who have each had their own children attend Trillium camps. Pat and Dianne also serve on Elmira’s Board of Directors.
Alison Poluck of Mount Forest plays lead for Team Anika Molenaar; all of Alison’s teammates, who also include Kate Martin and Emma McKenzie, are part of the Elmira junior program. This year for the OCA Bantam Girls competition the girls are playing out of the Mount Forest Curling Club, Alison’s home club where Alison devotes considerable volunteer hours. The above photograph shows Alison receiving her certificate from Dianne Crossley.
Veronica Bernard of Elmira skips her rink of Claire Randell, Morgan Blair, and Laura Blachier out of the Richmond Hill Curling Club in Richmond Hill. Veronica has been a part of the Junior program at Elmira from a very young age. The photograph above shows Veronica posing with her certificate alongside Dianne Crossley and Shelia Smith-Jones.
Both Team Bernard and Team Molenaar advanced to Region 2 and Region 4 playdowns respectively, which are being held this weekend. Congratulations to both recipients and good luck to their teams this weekend.
